A Little Rain Couldn’t Stop the Kindness
“Sharing your kindness sparks understanding all around. Then, like fireflies in the night, twinkling love surrounds you.” - Amy Leigh Mercure

We joined with hundred to support the Kind Like Joey Foundation during the First Annual Kind Like Joey 5k on Sunday. It was a less than ideal weather day for an outdoor run... cold, damp, and impending soaking rain. Yet, we somehow woke up our three boys, got them dressed and out the door. Because it was not for us or for them- but for Joey.
As we arrived at the bustling North Branch park, we quickly lost notice of the chill. We were warmed by the crowd and the adrenaline of the runners.
Joey’s teenage friends eagerly answering questions and directing traffic, parents with strollers, and some who were running their first 5k to honor Joey’s legacy of kindness all reminded us that we were exactly where we should be.
It wasn’t just the event that was heartwarming, rather the way people all treated each other that drizzly morning. Big smiles, handshakes, hugs, and introductions of new friends all in the spirit of continuing the kindness that was the heart of Joey Edwards.
All those folks joined together remembering Joey and focusing on his legacy left us feeling the warmth and the spark of joy that Joey brought to everyone who knew him. May we all continue to celebrate and reignite that spark everyday.
